OCTOBER 2016 UPDATE
The Big Museum, formerly known as the Botting Rd machine shed/barn is finally getting the permanent foundation. Hopefully the move of the Big Museum onto the foundation will happen soon also. The Caledonia Historical Society would like to extend a grateful thank you to everyone in Racine County and surrounding communities who has provided support both financially and in-kind to make this happen. CHS has received numerous cash donations as well as foundation grants as well as in-kind services too numerous to list.
COME JOIN US!
The Caledonia Historical Society meets the third Thursday of every month. Our next meeting is October 20th at 6:30 pm at the 1902 Milwaukee Road Depot in the Caledonia Historic Village, just east of Hwy 38 on 5 Mile Rd. The meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome. Starting in November the monthly meetings will be held at the Caledonia-Mt. Pleasant Memorial Park at 9614 Co Hwy K. The buildings will be closed up for the season by November 1st, but if you wish to rent the park or the buildings for a special occasion, the Caledonia Historical Society can accommodate you.
THE CHS WEBSITE HOME PAGE PICTURE HAS BEEN UPDATED!
I am sure you noticed the new look to the CHS website home page. Bruce Seidner, CHS member, took and posted the new picture which accentuates the 1877 Town Hall with the other park buildings and the heritage garden in the background. The move and renovation of the 1877 Town Hall was the event that launched the Caledonia Historical Society in the year 2000. If you visit the Caledonia Historical Park, you will see that CHS has grown significantly since then.
