COME TO THE CABIN!

Caledonia Historical Society Posted on November 29, 2016 by Bruce SeidnerNovember 29, 2016

An Exclusive Christmas Gift Boutique

Come experience the 1840’s Caledonia Historical Park log cabin filled with a unique variety of quality handmade gifts; jewelry, wood carvings, chainsaw carvings, handmade wearables, shattered glass art and more.  This lovely event takes place Saturday and Sunday, December 3rd and 4th from 10 am to 4 pm.  A portion of the proceeds go to the CHS.

The Caledonia Historical Society will be providing a bake sale in the 1877 Town Hall during the same hours as the Christmas Gift Boutique.  All proceeds go to support the CHS.  The Caledonia Historical Park is just a short drive from anywhere–just east of Hwy 38 on 5 Mile Road.

Work on the Big Museum is Progressing!

The foundation is poured and the CHS volunteers have been shoveling and leveling gravel for  the floor of the Big Museum (formerly known as the Botting Rd machine shed/barn).  Hopefully, the weather will hold long enough that the movers can place the barn on the foundation soon.  Thanks to everyone who has been following and helping the progress of the Big Museum project.

Come Join Us!

The Caledonia Historical Society usually meets the third Thursday of every month, but our next meeting which is our Christmas Party will be held December 8th at 5:30 pm at the Caledonia-Mt. Pleasant Memorial Park at 9614 Co Hwy K.  The meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome.   The buildings at the Caledonia Historical Park are closed for the season,  but if you wish to rent the park or the buildings for a special occasion, the Caledonia Historical Society can accommodate you.

OCTOBER 2016 UPDATE

Caledonia Historical Society Posted on October 16, 2016 by Bruce SeidnerSeptember 18, 2021

The Big Museum, formerly known as the Botting Rd machine shed/barn is finally getting the permanent foundation.  Hopefully the move of the Big Museum onto the foundation will happen soon also.  The Caledonia Historical Society would like to extend a grateful thank you to everyone in Racine County and surrounding communities who has provided support both financially and in-kind to make this happen.  CHS has received numerous cash donations as well as foundation grants as well as in-kind services too numerous to list.

COME JOIN US!

The Caledonia Historical Society meets the third Thursday of every month.   Our next meeting is October 20th at 6:30 pm at the 1902 Milwaukee Road Depot in the Caledonia Historic Village, just east of Hwy 38 on 5 Mile Rd.  The meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome.    Starting in November the monthly meetings will be held at the Caledonia-Mt. Pleasant Memorial Park at 9614 Co Hwy K.  The buildings will be closed up for the season by November 1st, but if you wish to rent the park or the buildings for a special occasion, the Caledonia Historical Society can accommodate you.

THE CHS WEBSITE HOME PAGE PICTURE HAS BEEN UPDATED!

I am sure you noticed the new look to the CHS website home page.  Bruce Seidner, CHS member,  took and posted the new picture which accentuates the 1877 Town Hall with the other park buildings and the heritage garden in the background.  The move and renovation of the 1877 Town Hall was the event that launched the Caledonia Historical Society in the year 2000.  If you visit the Caledonia Historical Park, you will see that CHS has grown significantly since then.

CHS IS EVERYWHERE!

The Caledonia Historical Society is on Facebook.  Like CHS at Caledonia Historical Society.  The Caledonia Historical Society is on Twitter.  Follow CHS at Caledonia Historical.  Check this website for updates regarding CHS events.  Visit the Caledonia Historical Village, east of Hwy 38 on 5 Mile Rd.

CHICS WITH CHAINSAWS!

Support Chics with Chainsaws, Sherry Lou Martin, who carves her artistry at the Caledonia Historical Park.  She works several mornings each week at the park.  She supports the CHS in many ways, and she would appreciate support of her art form.

We have several items for sale to help pay the expenses of maintaining our historic village.   The items include mugs, note cards, the book, “Milwaukee Then and Now,” bricks for the walk way by the Town Hall, and posters of the 1902 Depot.  The form to request bricks is now on this website.
