BUZZING WITH ACTIVITY AT THE CALEDONIA HISTORICAL PARK

BUZZING WITH ACTIVITY??

What does that mean for the Caledonia Historical Society and the Caledonia Historical Park on 5 Mile Rd just east of Hwy 38?

  1.  The renovation of the Botting Rd Barn will begin in earnest.  There is lots to do.  We have siding to replace.  We have siding to repair.  We have a stairway to put in place so we can easily get to the second floor.  We need windows fixed.  We need doors placed and repaired.  AND that is just the beginning!  We need volunteers to help us with these projects and the maintenance and upkeep of all of our buildings and the park grounds.  If you want to help, contact Chuck Miles at ridingsmarter@gmail.com.
  2. The inventory of the CHS numerous artifacts is finally underway.  The CHS is fortunate that a UWP history major volunteered to help us identify and catalog our many items.  Any new donations need to have appropriate paper work completed by the donor and appropriate placement by the CHS receiving member.
  3.  April 24th is clean up day to get the buildings and the park grounds ready for the season.  See the following list of upcoming events.  If you want to help, contact Chuck Miles at ridingsmarter@gmail.com.

THE BOTTING BARN IS IN PLACE!

WEATHER WAS WET, THEY MADE A MESS, BUT THE BARN IS UP!

Thanks to several CHS members and volunteers and Badger Construction, the 1919 Botting Rd Barn/Machine Shed has been placed on a permanent foundation and pieced back together.  Here are some pictures to show part of the process.  There is still alot to do in the Spring to start the renovation of the barn and to level the area around and leading up to the barn and to reseed the grass.  BUT CHS, after a two year fund raising effort, has the barn in place in the Caledonia Historical Park.  AND we are not done.  We will continue to raise funds for a cement floor, for repair/replacement of some of the siding, and for other upcoming costs.

BUT THE VOLUNTEERS HAVE STILL BEEN WORKING!

There has been alot of shoveling and other hard labor taking place by the CHS volunteers to get the Big Museum building (aka Botting Road Barn/Machine Shed) ready for the final move.  We need some good weather in order to finish the move.
